Merr-Sonn power 5 Blaster Project:

The Power 5 heavy blaster pistol was a blaster manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. at some point prior to the Clone Wars. It was a favorite of Nym's private pirate army. It was designed to imitate the more successful BlasTech Industries DL-44 heavy blaster pistol. Like the DL-44, the Power was a high-powered, short-ranged weapon. The Power 5's blaster gas chamber was smaller than that of the DL-44, and not very efficient. As a result the pistol was less powerful, but could fire more bolts per power cell.

Like the DL-44, the Power 5 is a "Broomhandle" Mauser C96 with cosmetic attachments. .

Project: Part 1

I ordered a Doopydoos DL-44 ESB Blaster Kit as its one of the best kits out there, the kit arrived 1 week after been orderd.

There are a few pices with this kit that is not needed these are parts 2,3,4 and 5. Parts 1 and 6 will need modification and will also need to make some new parts.

Part 1 needs the muzzle cutting off, just before the muzzle starts, Part 6 needs more work the big greeble with two screws in needs removing, as does the square with two holes in, also going to hollow out behind the trigger and drill the fake srew and bolt out of the hand grip.

 .

Project: Part 2

A lot of component designing on the computer was done to create the new Muzzle, Barrel, Targeting System, Targeting Mount, Cooling Fins and greebles..

Project: Part 3

I removed the unwanted parts from the body of the blaster, and carved out the trigger, I also drilled out and counter sunk the bolt holder on the blaster Grips, once all this was done all the parts were then covered in XTC 3D Resin, with steel filler.

Project: Part 4

I then started putting the parts together. Starting with the muzzle and barrel extender which is attached to the top of the blaster body. All the greebles and cooling fins were then also attached, the only part not fitted was the scope.

Project: Part 5

Once all the parts are set all excess glue is removed and the blaster is given a coat of primer filler, when this is dryed the blaster is then given a fine sanding to remove any imperfections and to make a nicer finish.

The blaster is then give a coat of bolt gun metal spray and then sprayed lightly with black.

Project: Part 6

The Scope is then assembled. The cable coil is made out of a strip of metal garden wire and some PTFE tubing, this is then wound around a pencil to crealte the coils.

The coils and scope are then glued together,  painted and wethered, then attached to the blaster.

The Grips are painted and then attached to the blaster with the nut and bolt, the bolt for the muzzle is fitted and the blaster is then ready for a few coats of varnish.
