DL-44 Blaster Project:
The DL-44 was a powerful, highly modifiable and accurate blaster pistol. It packed a heavy punch compared to other pistols without losing accuracy, which made it a prime choice among many groups and individuals, ranging from smugglers and bounty hunters to military and the Rebellion
This project will be based on the screen used DL-44 in Empire Strikes Back. The original DL-44s of the classic trilogy were created from the German Mauser C96 pistol with simple muzzle and grip accessories, as well as a rifle scope mounted on top.
Project: Day 1
I ordered a Doopydoos DL-44 ESB Blaster Kit as its one of the best kits out there, the kit arrived 1 week after been orderd.
So a brown box was delivered to day with a doopydoos sticker on it, There was not a lot of pices to this kit so not a lot of prep work was needed. .
Putting the parts together was really simple, not alot of offcasting to cut off, the main bits were on part 5, but easly resolved with the dremil :).
I desided to recast the scope in clear cast resin, to make a scope that gives the impression of having lenses in it.
Its time to do the finishing touches to the blaster, sprayed the blaster with grey primer, masked off everything except the Muzzle- which is sprayed in Silver - when dryed masked of the muzzle and sprayed the entire blaster mat black and dabbed with tissue paper.
To add a bit of depth to the project i then did some dry brushing on the blaster with silver, dry brushed the scope with bronze and used a white crayon on the text on the blaster range finder. To finish it off i sprayed the blaster in mat varnish to offer some protection...
